Conveyor Belt Monitoring

Our Experience

Beltscan has been helping belt conveyor owners maximise the safe working life of these assets since 1979.

Barry Brown, our Chairman, was the first person in the world to offer commercial conveyor belt monitoring. The condition monitoring of belting started in 1980. Since 1980 and up to the present time he has developed and delivered the most sophisticated and widely accepted services and products for monitoring the condition and protection of all types of conveyor belting.

He was responsible for the introduction of the concept of conveyor belt condition monitoring in the following countries: Australia, New Zealand, New Caledonia, Indonesia, Republic of South Korea, Republic of South Africa, Namibia, Germany (East and West), Spain, France, Greece, Saudi Arabia, England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Sweden, Canada, USA, Mexico and Chile.

In 2003 he sub-licensed his scanning activity to concentrate on the development of the NEXT GENERATION of conveyor belt monitoring/protection technologies. This development uses tried and true techniques, but incorporates all the elements that were missing from other products on offer, while eliminating a large number of unwanted drawbacks.

Our Technology

The new technologies are based on the concept of a 'holistic' family of instruments, which provides the belt conveyor operator/owner with the information and protection necessary for maximal safe working life, all in the one system.

This system comprises the "Belt Guard" family of instruments.  Each member of the family is designed to work with and compliment the other.  Each member can either stand alone or share family assets to form a potent holistic information/protection package.

The system can provide;

  1. Longitudinal belt rip detection for both steel cord and fabric re-enforced belting.
  2. Belt wander information for all conveyors.
  3. Steel cord belt carcass and splice condition monitoring information, and
  4. Steel cord belt on-line and static remaining cover thickness measurement.
